Our History

Ms. Bengfort has devoted her practice to Family Law going back to 1998 when she first began working in a Family Law firm. Unlike most Family Law practitioners, Ms. Bengfort started her profession as a file clerk, then worked as a law clerk throughout law school, progressing to an associate in two different family law firms, a partner in a family law firm and ultimately opening her own firm in Fashion Island, Newport Beach, California. Ms. Bengfort’s sole focus is to treat clients the way she would want to be treated if the roles were reversed. This is the hallmark of Ms. Bengfort’s practice and motto of her firm and staff.

Kristin M. Bengfort is Board Certified as a specialist in Family Law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Bengfort has more than 18 years of legal experience, specifically focused in the areas of family law, mediation and estate planning. Ms. Bengfort is an alumnus of the prestigious American Bar Association Section of Family Law National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Having litigation, mediation and estate planning experience, Ms. Bengfort is uniquely situated to handle the diverse and complex aspects of family law. Ms. Bengfort has achieved considerable success in the Courtroom but also in effectuating settlements for her clients that are mutually beneficial and cost-effective. Ms. Bengfort’s success in Family Law is measured not only in the number of positive outcomes in trials and hearings but also in the number of successful resolutions leading to stipulated (agreed upon) Judgments and Orders.

Ms. Bengfort earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Concordia University in Irvine and her Juris Doctor at the University of San Diego School of Law. While in Law School, Ms. Bengfort was a Fellow of the Children’s Advocacy Institute and volunteered in the Dependency Division of the San Diego Public Defender’s Office. Ms. Bengfort also worked with the San Diego Homeless Court project. Ms. Bengfort authored “Termination of Parental Rights: Abandonment as a Ground for Termination of Parental Rights,” J. Contemp. Legal Issues 333, 339 · Jan 1, 2007. This article was cited by the Court of Appeal in M.C. v. R.C. (In re A.C.) E071244 (Cal. Ct. App. Apr. 10, 2019). This opinion was not certified for publication.

Ms. Bengfort has received several commendations for her pro bono and volunteer work, including serving as a Board Member for Casa Teresa in Orange, California, and the Lido Isle Yacht Club. Ms. Bengfort has mentored several high school, college and law school students. Ms. Bengfort is an adjunct professor of law in the area of California Family Law and Community Property Law. Ms. Bengfort was a founding member of the Influential Ladies of Orange County.
